This is where it all started. In 1966, a Finnish expedition under the leadership of Erik Pihkala started its trek across Greenland, and the first down coats were manufactured for this team. The coat was a simple model with all the unnecessary details removed, but it needed to enable survival in extremely harsh conditions. The Eskimo down coat is now back in production as a redesigned retro version that honours the original model.
